Scholarship Opportunities
The Darton College Foundation, Inc. and other sources provide scholarship opportunities for students attending Darton College. Darton College Foundation Scholarships can be used in addition to other state and federal financial aid. All students applying for scholarships must also complete the federal financial aid application, available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Scholarship applications are available from the Darton College Office of Financial Aid, and applicants are considered for all scholarships for which they are qualified. The priority deadline for scholarship applications is April first of each year. Applications received by the priority deadline will be given first consideration. The following is a list of available scholarships:
Foundation Half-Fee Scholarship
These scholarships are available to students who display academic promise or special talent. The scholarship covers one-half the cost of in-state tuition and fees each semester for the academic year. Students must maintain a semester grade point average of 2.5 or better to be considered for selection and eligible to apply for renewal each year.
Service Scholarship
Students are selected based on their participation in service commitments. Students must enroll full-time, maintain a 2.25 or better GPA, and be recommended for continuation by their service supervisor to retain the scholarship. The Service Scholarship provides a fellowship stipend up to $1000 per semester.
Dean’s Scholar Award
This award is a non-renewable scholarship for incoming freshmen worth the total cost of tuition and mandatory fees for the fall and spring semesters. To qualify, students must graduate from high school with a college preparatory seal diploma, have a 3.0 GPA, a minimum SAT score of 1000 (ACT 21), and show evidence of community and school involvement. Students who are awarded the scholarship must enroll as a full-time student (12 hours) and remain in a degree-seeking track within a transfer or career program. Application deadline is April 1st. Division Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded by Darton College academic divisions to students who show special promise in these areas. The recipients of these scholarships are nominated by Darton College faculty from each awarding division. The scholarships cover one-half the cost of in-state tuition and fees for the first academic year. Recipients must maintain a 2.25 GPA to remain eligible.
Darton College Memorial Scholarships
Recipients are sophomores who exhibit outstanding academic potential. These scholarships are in memory of faculty and staff members, including Henry O. Adams, A. Doy Beck, Owen B. Murphy, and Susan Kavanaugh.
Grace Emond Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship in the amount of $500 is awarded to a full-time Darton student who works on a College or student publication. The scholarship is subject to renewal each fall and spring semester based on the recommendation of the publication advisor.
Madge Holm Memorial Human Services Technology Scholarship
This in-state half-tuition scholarship is awarded to a student accepted into the Human Services Technology Program. The recipient cannot be receiving any other type of financial assistance and must maintain a 2.0 GPA to remain eligible for up to two years of support. Selection for this scholarship and annual renewal are determined by the Human Services Technology faculty.
Dr. Jerry a. Walton Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is in the amount of $500 and is given annually to a student who has declared a major in teacher education. The recipient must have no less than a 3.0 GPA, be classified as a sophomore, and be involved in extra-curricular activities. A committee of Social Science faculty selects the recipient.
Darton College Staff Honor Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a traditional student who displays academic promise, leadership ability, and involvement in extracurricular activities. The one-half fee scholarship is funded through contributions and fundraising activities by the Darton College staff.
